Montreal's Ev Bird has announced his debut EP for Royal Mountain Records, Puff Piece, is due to arrive on October 7. Alongside the news, the genre-bending singer has shared new single "The Ring" featuring Detroit rapper Boldy James.
"This track, in general, is about the toll that pushing yourself too hard takes on a person," the artist said of the new release. "I began to write the song by describing how I looked and felt on any given morning while on tour. As is the album's theme, the song also deals with mortality and the futility of life."
The song finds Ev Bird collaborating with A&R/Producer Noah Rubin, and comes attached to a video by Boomin Filmz. Meanwhile, the seven-track EP finds the artist "reckoning with mortality, helplessness, melancholy, sorrow and futility, with a smile on his face and a wink in his eye," according to press materials.
