The rest of the band may not be saying much, but Modest Mouse bassist Eric Judy told Billboard.com that he hopes the groups next album will be made up of unheard tracks from the past. The bands last two releases, this years chart-topper We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank and 2004s Good News For People Who Love Bad News left the group with an albums worth of tracks that went unreleased, and Judy (who was mysteriously absent from the bands Toronto date on April 24) wants fans to get a chance at a listen.
"We have three or four songs from [Good News...] that were pretty much almost done, but they were never finished," Judy said. "And then there were four songs off [We Were Dead...] that we didn't finish but we recorded the basic tracks and structures. Basically due to time constraints we had to pick songs to leave out of both records.
For now, though, Modest Mouse are focused on their tour of North America and the UK in support of We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, which wraps up in late June.
