It's been over 10 years since Sisters of Mercy offshoot the Mission UK have graced North American stages, but the reunited goth-pop band have announced they'll hit our continent for a mini-tour next fall.
News came from band leader Wayne Hussey, who admitted the group have caved to peer pressure and booked the tour due to countless requests the Mission have received from fans through their website and Facebook page since getting back together in 2011. "Who are we to disappoint?" he wrote.
The 10-date trip hits both coasts of the U.S., but will find the troupe making it up to Canada once for an appearance at Toronto's Lee's Palace on September 6.
While Hussey seems excited for the band to return, he is also a little weary, considering founding bassist Craig Adams and guitarist Simon Hinkler both left the group's ranks on North American tours. Both musicians have since hopped back on board with the project, though.
"We are tempting fate by returning but to address that possible eventuality we are only playing a few shows this time so it's not really long enough for us to crack up, get sick of each other and fracture," Hussey joked. "Anyway, we're all older and more moderate in our behavior and whilst not particularly wiser we do see this as an opportunity to show the natives what they've been missing this last year or so since we got back together."
The Mission UK's last release was 2010's B-sides compilation, Dum Dum Bullet.
Tour dates:
9/3 Washington, DC - 930 Club
9/4 Philadelphia, PA - Trocadero
9/5 New York, NY - Irving Plaza
