Calgary-based two-piece Miesha & the Spanks drop their seasonally appropriate new EP Summer Love today (July 31), and to mark the occasion, the band have offered up the title track.
It's a gritty, fuzzed-out lo-fi rocker of a tune that was written around the themes of "fleeting love and urgency." The frenetic backbeat, distorted guitars and incredulous lyrics are softened a bit by some bubblegummy "oh oh oh's" from singer Miesha Louie, though it never loses its edge.
Summer Love was produced by Josh Gwilliam and should tide fans over while the duo complete work on a forthcoming full-length. For now, get into the summertime spirit by giving the title track a listen below.
