Metallica Set Release Date for 'Through the Never' DVD and Blu-ray

Metallica's explosive 3D concert film Metallica: Through the Never was many things, including, somehow, a movie about the end of the world. Keeping up with its multiple personalities, the film will now be released via multiple formats.

After a wide theatrical release, Through the Never is coming out in DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, digital download and video-on-demand formats, all at once. The film will see its release on January 28 via the band's own Blackened Recordings, making it a better Valentine's Day gift than Christmas present.

While each format is slightly different, all of the physical releases will offer myriad extras. These include an 80-minute making-of documentary, behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast and crew.

The Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray sets will also feature cover art that utilizes "3D lenticular artwork that is actually a reusable sticker, giving fans a 3D souvenir," a press release reports.

To top it all off, there are also two limited deluxe editions. One includes a Through the Never bandana and a litho movie poster. The other, which is exclusive to Metclub members only, includes the bandana, the poster with autographs from all four members of Metallica, and a piece of the stage used in the film. You won't find that on your favourite torrent site.
