New Jersey artist Dayve Hawk has barely revisited his Memory Tapes project since the release of 2012's Grace/Confusion, but that's all about to change as he's just announced a new single and tour.
Hawk plans to release a new digital single through Carpark Records on March 31. The release features the songs "Fallout" — which you can stream below — and "House on Fire."
The songs stem from Hawk's recent work on a new Memory Tapes album, which he says he ultimately scrapped. "With my second daughter becoming a toddler, I've found balancing the relationship between my work and my life increasingly difficult," he explained in a press release. "It's made me question the self-indulgent nature of my music. At a particularly low moment I trashed the entire album I had spent much of the past year working on."
That said, he's trying to become more of an active artist again. "I feel like it's important to just do something and get it out," he said. "I'm trying to transition out of my hyper-introverted life."
In addition to the new EP, Memory Tapes have announced a North American tour, including a stop in Toronto this July. Check out the full itinerary below.
