Remember the Flashing Lights? They were Matt Murphy's band between different eras of the Super Friendz, and, this week, their 1999 album Where the Change Is is getting reissued digitally and on vinyl. It arrives Friday (April 29) through murderecords.

A press release notes that Where the Change Is has never been released on any streaming platforms before this. The announcement adds, "Its inclusion in the murderecords roster helps solidify its claim to be the greatest roster of any Canadian indie label certainly of the 1990s and arguably ever. Discuss."

The announcement points out that Where the Change Is has a classic, '60s/'70s pop sound, which was miles away from both the sugary mainstream pop and the heavy, angry rock that was so popular around the turn of the millennium.

Exclaim! interviewed Murphy at the time of Where the Change Is's release. He said, "When I started doing the '60s rave-up stuff, I realized what makes me happiest was having everyone singing along and participating, so that there's no difference between the stage and the dance floor. I was hooked on that sensation, and I wanted to intertwine that with the songs that I naturally write, which tend to confide in the listener. There's a balance of those two things on the record."

See the tracklist below, along with the videos for album cuts "Highschool" and "Elevature." LPs are available to order here, and can be heard digitally on Bandcamp.
