Matt Mays Returns with 'Coyote' Album, Shares New Track

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 4, 2012

Matt Mays has previously been a member of the Guthries and fronted his own band El Torpedo, and now he is back with another solo album. The Halifax songwriter will release Coyote on September 4 via Sonic/Warner Bros.

This marks Mays first album since 2008's Terminal Romance, which featured El Torpedo. A press release notes that, since then, Mays has "been making new music at his pace and doing things the way he wants to do them." As for Coyote, it's apparently "a rollicking rock record."

In regards to the album title, Mays said in a statement, "I've always loved animals that are beautiful but dangerous. It's a good analogy for life. Coyotes are native to Canada, Mexico and the United States and that's where I lived while writing this album."

The rocking single "Take It on Faith" is streaming below and can be purchased now on iTunes. See the tracklist below, and scroll past that to see Mays's summer tour schedule. Expect a full national tour to be announced shortly.
