Mastodon Cancel Summer Shows, Will Not Play Heavy Montreal

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 21, 2015

Mastodon have spent the better part of the year promoting Once More 'Round the Sun in rather non-traditional ways — from hosting twerking competitions to appearing on Game of Thrones to publicly denouncing the genre of heavy metal. And while the band were set to get back to some good, old-fashioned touring, those plans have been unfortunately cut short.

The band have cancelled a string of shows, citing "family reasons." The first date on the list of axed shows is the group's appearance at Heavy Montreal. It is the only Canadian date affected.

Mastodon will resume touring in Latin America in late September, while the September 5 show in Reykjavik, Iceland has been rescheduled to December 5. You can see the full list of cancelled dates below.
