Following an earlier project announcement of Mary J. Blige's new The London Sessions album and a stream of the Disclosure-produced "Right Now" single, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has now affixed her house-exploring set with a late fall due date.
Via a newly unveiled album trailer, it's now been confirmed that the album arrives November 24 through Capitol. As the trailer explains, the singer travelled out to London in the summer "in pursuit of a new sound for her 13th studio album." It then presents a series of career-scouring clips and current interviews with Blige and her collaborators.
"This is different, this is special. This is something that's never been done for an artist like me," Blige says in the clip, just ahead of praise from Sam Smith and producer Rodney Jerkins. The clip also offers up a quick snippet of Blige singing and as-yet-detailed new number in the studio.
While a tracklisting has yet to be coughed up for The London Sessions, it's expected to feature "Right Now" and a "doo-wop" track with Smith, as well as feature contributions from Jerkins, Emeli Sandé, Jimmy Napes, Naughty Boy, Sam Romans and more.
