Any man who wears zebra pants and sings songs with choruses about "special girls is bound to induce nightmares of Glenn Frey. Yet Vancouvers Mark Kleiner (ex-Jungle) manages to pillage all the best parts of irony-free early 80s K-Tel power pop to create guilt-free songs as sticky as jujubes. The power ballad "Birth to Blue" even concludes with the sound of a screaming stadium. Much like the good half of the latest Sloan album, Love To Night conjures memories of Fast Times at Ridgemont High (theres an odd hint of Jackson Browne here). Love To Night is a sugar sweet soundtrack for cruising to the beach on the first day of summer break.
