The Mark Inside Recording With Arctic Monkeys Producer

Toronto by way of Whitby, ON rockers, the Mark Inside (yes, their name comes from Burrough’s Naked Lunch) have gone the road frequently travelled by Canadian musicians in search of bigger love – to the UK.

After parting ways with MapleMusic in mid-2007, TMI continued to record demos for their second full-length album (their first, Static/Crash, was produced by Ian Blurton and released independently in 2004 and by Maple in 2005), which ended up catching the ear of Jim Abbiss. If you’re not familiar with the UK producer by name, you’re undoubtedly familiar with at least some of his recent work. He was behind the console for albums by Editors, Kasabian and Artic Monkeys’ Mercury Prize-winning Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.

At Abbiss’ invitation, the band recently flew to Lincolnshire, UK to record at his Chapel Studios, where they’re currently hard at work on a glut of new tracks. Early versions of some of these songs that might make the final album can be heard on the band’s MySpace page.
