The women who make up Magneta Lane have reportedly been through some tough times in recent years, but the trio are revitalized and back with a new four-song EP. Entitled Witchrock, it's due out February 12 through eOne Music.
A press release notes that the band have been on an "emotional roller coaster" but are "back, stronger, bolder and ready with fire in the soul." Witchrock was produced by Finger Eleven members Rick Jackett and James Black at Toronto's Coalition Studios.
In a statement, singer Lexi Valentine explained the EP's title like this: "What do we even call this? What genre is this? Is it rock? Is it alternative? Is it pop? We decided to make our own genre because we couldn't figure out where we fit. We decided it sounds kind of witchy. People have said that to us before. Maybe it's because we're three girls. Maybe it's something worse, I don't know. Or care at this point."
The band will launch Witchrock with a CD release show at the Rivoli in Toronto on February 14.
In a tweet, Magneta Lane confirmed that they are in the process of recording a new full-length. They will finish it this year and it will be out "hopefully soon."
