M. Ward Travels to Quebec and Gets Arcade Fire Members for New Album 'Migration Stories'

He'll play Toronto on an upcoming North American Tour

M. Ward — known to many as the Him in She & Him — has announced plans for his latest solo album. The record is called Migration Stories, and it is due out on April 3 via Anti-.

The album was recorded in Quebec at Arcade Fire's studio, and it features contributions and production work from band members Tim Kingsbury and Richard Reed Parry, as well as engineer/mixer Craig Silvey (The Suburbs, Reflektor, Everything Now) and Teddy Impakt.

The new 11-song collection was inspired by stories of movement and migration, drawing from newspapers, TV, friends and Ward's own family history.

"Some time went by, the stories wove together and I remember them now closer to characters in a dream of how people could treat each other than any kind of front-page news realism," Ward said in a statement. "I think music subconsciously — whether writing or listening — is a filter for me. Helping to process all the bad news into something new to build from. Some records to me are like self-fulfilling prophecies — visualizing change to wish something into being. Those records inspired this one."
