The luck of Irish certainly didn't prevail for Lucki and his Calgary fans on St. Patrick's Day. On Sunday (March 17), the rapper was scheduled to perform at the Grey Eagle Casino, but didn't show up — resulting in some frustrated ticketholders throwing tantrums (and garbage at venue workers), as captured by local media marketing agency URBA on Instagram.
Concertgoer Cobyn Murphy told the Calgary Herald that he was particularly disappointed by the lack of transparency surrounding how the event unfolded. "The DJ teased us with Lucki's arrival over the whole two hours he performed; he kept saying, 'Do you want Lucki?'" Murphy explained. "This made us think he would arrive anytime soon," he continued, adding that it was only after hours of waiting that attendees were finally notified that the rapper would not be performing.
Lucki has since cancelled his other Western Canada concerts, which were supposed to take place at Edmonton's Midway Music Hall on Monday (March 18) and Vancouver's PNE today, citing an "unexpected illness" on his Instagram Story posted the day after he was a no-show in Calgary. "I'll be back soon to make it up to you," he wrote [via HipHopDX], adding that refunds would be processed automatically at point of purchase.
