After meeting their funding goal through a Kickstarter campaign last year, Toronto's Pop Sandbox productions are finally set to launch their Canadian indie-centric game LOUD on Planet X, announcing it will arrive later this month.
The game will launch April 19 for PlayStation 4 and Steam and April 21 for iOS and Android. An additional announcement on April 18 will reveal three more playable artists. The console edition of the game will be priced at $8.99, while the mobile edition will go for $5.49.
Billed as a title that combines elements of tower defence and rhythm-based games, LOUD on Planet X lets players use power-ups such as amps, strobe lights, fog machines, bouncers and more to help their artist of choice defend a stage against alien hordes while tapping along to the music.
Players can perform as Tegan and Sara, Metric, Fucked Up, METZ, Purity Ring, Austra, Lights, July Talk, Shad, and Cadence Weapon, among others. Original scores for the game were written by Jonah Falco and Mike Haliechuk of Fucked Up, Brendan Canning and Justin Peroff of Broken Social Scene, and producer Harrison.
