Cardiff, Wales-based the Lost Prophets are on the cusp of something huge. They are young, hot and have an interesting enough sound to turn heads. Drummer turned vocalist Ian Watkins sings as if on the edge of a mental breakdown and they use samples that just aren't heard from bands on this side of the pond. The Fake Sound of Progress has a few weak tunes, though, such as "For Sure." One of the unfortunate realities of this record is that it is two years old, originally released in the UK by indie label Visible Noise, before being picked up by Columbia Records, remixed and re-released. While one patiently waits for disc number two, The Fake Sound of Progress is a great listen.
