Light Your Spliffs: Clutch Tours Eight Canadian Cities and a Whole Lot More Down South

BY Jason SchreursPublished Jul 1, 2009

Clutch fans in Canada may soon begin jumping off their possibly padded walls now that the band have announced live dates in eight major Canadian cities. Yes, Clutch fans are that coo coo about the long-running Maryland band, who are currently prepping for the release of their ninth album, Strange Cousins from the West on their own, newly formed label, Weathermaker Music.

In late July/early August, the nearly two-decade-old stoner rock, groove jam, celestial weirdo band will play Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg on the first leg of their tour, and will hit Montreal, London and Toronto in mid-September. Best known for their fervent live shows and whacked-out jams, anyone who's seen Clutch live praises their glories to anyone who hasn't. (Ahem, bastards.)

Although the release date for the band's new album has been bumped back a week to July 14, a limited amount of copies will now include an autographed CD insert. Pre-orders of the album are available via Newbury Comics. Meanwhile, the iTunes version of the album will include a 10-minute documentary on the band.

Clutch will begin their touring activities this week down in the U.S. with fellow stoner-weights Baroness and Maryland brothers Lionize (click here for those dates) before coming up to Canada, and then resume touring in early September with Wino, the namesake band of stoner rock legend Scott "Wino" Weinrech, and Revolution Mother, featuring pro skateboard rebel rouser Mike Vallely.
