Toronto's Gentleman Reg is typically known for his indie rock tunes, but he also records synth-driven dance music with Ohbijou's James Bunton under the name Light Fires. Their debut album FACE arrives as a self-release on July 30, and we can get a taste of it via a music video for the Owen Pallett-featuring "Dependent."
While Pallett frequently collaborates on violin and orchestral arrangements, this guest spot is somewhat unusual for him in that he sings rather than plays strings. He duets with Reg — who is dressed in drag and credited as Regina the Gentlelady — on this peppy electronic pop number.
As for the video, it shows Pallett and the glamourously dressed "Regina" frolicking in a hotel room. The entire things plays out in a series of rapid-fire still images, looking a bit like an exceptionally glitzy four-minute-long Vine video in high-res.
This follows Light Fires' prior video for "Ten Feet Tall," and you can check it out below.
To celebrate the release of FACE, Light Fires will play an album release show in Toronto at the Piston on August 1. You can get more info here.
