Les Thanatologues

Les Thanatologues

BY Craig DanielsPublished Jul 1, 2001

Hailing from the badlands of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Les Thanatologues play a rough and tumble mix of garage punk and rockabilly-influenced hard rock. In this self-released CD, these horror rock fans wisely utilise some raunchy saxophone work to pump up their sound. One of the best instances of this sax work is on the Green Hornet-esque "Les Creatures," which is sung in French, as several of the cuts are. The singer usually uses a classically garage sounding "monster" voice, as he does on the Screaming Lord Sutch cover "London Rocker." All in all, Les Thanatologues come off as a keg party kind of garage band that are just playing music for the fuck of it, with no allusions about becoming the next Nashville Pussy.
