Les Deuxluxes

"Springtime Devil"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 4, 2016

For most, springtime conjures up images of melting snow, bright sunshine and beautiful little birds chirping from freshly budding tree branches. Montreal's Les Deuxluxes, though, are offering up some alternative imagery with a brand new hard-hitting, blues rock track called "Springtime Devil."

The two-piece band consists of Anna Frances Meyer and Étienne Barry, who bring together a ballsy combination of powerful vocals, primal rhythms and fierce guitars. They're currently following up their last EP and completing work on their debut LP Springtime Devil, which is expected out in September. But before the full record arrives, you can get a sampling of that raucous rock'n'roll sound on the title track, which expertly walks the line between fuzzed-out blues and melodic, stomp-along garage rock.

"The song is a perfect introduction and summary of this album," the band tells Exclaim! "We are working in the extremes of our musical palette, creating soundscapes and images we didn't know we had in us the first time around."

If you like what you hear, you can catch the band recreate their roughed-up sound onstage at a string of upcoming live shows. The jaunt kicks off at Canadian Music Week's Bonsound showcase on May 6, and you can find all of the subsequent shows listed below, as well. Scroll beyond the live dates to hear the premiere of the band's latest single "Springtime Devil."
