Late last year, we learned that nose stud-sporting soul rocker Lenny Kravitz was in talks for the leading role in an upcoming Marvin Gaye biopic. Now, however, we've learned that he won't be taking the part.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Kravitz will no longer play Gaye. Instead, Law & Order's Jesse L. Martin will fill in the starring role.
There's no word on why Kravitz dropped out of the movie, but reports surfaced last year that Gaye's son Marvin Gaye III was threatening to sue if the singer didn't back out of the project.
Thankfully, the director's seat will still be filled by Julien Temple, who has been attached to the film since 2011. No stranger to music movies, Temple has previously directed flicks on the Sex Pistols and Glastonbury.
The film (which is called Sexual Healing, by the way) will follow the final years of Gaye's life as he struggled with addiction issues and unpaid taxes.
