English artist Låpsley (a.k.a. Holly Fletcher) has been making waves online this year with a series of singles, catching the ear of plenty of new listeners. This includes the people at XL Recordings, who now report that it has brought the singer-producer into its stable for an EP release in the new year.

A press release confirms that Fletcher's first release for the imprint will be the four-song Understudy EP, which arrives January 5 digitally and on 12-inch vinyl. Described as "mixing sparse, minimal electronic production with gorgeous, emotive songwriting," the EP starts off with previously revealed single "Falling Down," which also appears on the recently delivered Anne Mac Presents 2014 compilation.

You'll find the track's minimalist bed of snaps, manipulated vocals and calming piano tones down below.

Earlier this year, Låpsley delivered her "Station" and "Painter (Valentine)" singles, as well as the independently released Monday EP.

Understudy:

1. Falling Short
2. Brownlow
