The National's Bryce Dessner has made the leap from indie rocker to composer with Aheym, his upcoming album with long-running chamber ensemble Kronos Quartet. He's now shared a video for the title track.
This sprawling 10-minute suite centres on classically-informed strings, which simmer tensely while at times crescendoing with dramatic jabs and heart-racing swells. The accompanying video is decidedly abstract, as we see what resemble objects flying through the air, some sort of a large pyramid, and a sunset, although the heavily filtered visuals mean that nothing is too clear.
It was directed by Matthew Ritchie. Watch it below [via NPR].
Aheym is out on November 5 through Anti-.
