Kristian North has announced his latest album. The Montreal singer-songwriter's upcoming project Pseudoscience Fiction will be out on May 19 via Mothland.
The eight-song album follows 2021's Passion Play as North's third full-length release since parting ways with Babysitter. Pseudoscience Fiction pushes the boundaries of genre, taking inspiration from a kaleidoscopic jumble of music that ranges from soul and funk to rock opera, disco and country.
North spoke of the album's theme in a statement: "Pseudoscience Fiction came from a simple concept; the last few years I keep hearing people say 'this is just like science fiction!' That's where the album title came from, and that's the theme — a science fiction story that could happen today. Science fiction has always been this way; a fictional future world used to examine the past or present."
North has punctuated Pseudoscience Fiction's announcement by welcoming listeners to the future with the groovy bass and haunting woodwinds of lead single "The Masked Singer."
