King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are set to deliver Flying Microtonal Banana as the first of a whopping five full-lengths this year alone. Before the record arrives, the band have shared another track in "Sleep Drifter."
As previously reported, the record marks the band's first foray into working with microtonal tuning. For those uninitiated, the tuning features intervals between notes that are smaller than a semitone — a characteristic not found in Western tuning octaves. You can hear the tuning in action within the track's lead guitar melodies.
Flying Microtonal Banana will arrive February 24 via ATO Records. Take in the band's exercise in microtonal tuning with "Sleep Drifter" below.
