Last year, when Kills singer Alison Mosshart joined Jack White's latest supergroup, the Dead Weather, she appeared to more or less forget about her former collaborator Jamie Hince. Yet despite the Dead Weather gearing up to release their second album, Sea of Cowards, on May 7, Mosshart has revealed that she and Hince are back together and working on their fourth Kills album.
Mosshart told BBC 6 Music, "We're kind of half finished, or three quarters of the way finished with the new record. I'm going to go back after this tour and finish it."
The singer admitted that, after having worked with a drummer and bassist in the Dead Weather, retuning to the two-piece format has been a challenge. "We always try to make a record that sounds totally different than the one before it or anything we've ever done, so that's usually the hard part, finding that new thing to do between just two people."
She also spoke highly of both Hince and her Dead Weather band-mates, revealing, "It's all about the group of people you're with. It took me forever, a whole lifetime it felt like, to find Jamie, where I felt like that felt right, and I feel that same feeling with these guys. It's incredible that I've been able to experience that twice. It's something that I almost think is impossible to find. I don't really know what it is, but it's good."
The Dead Weather are currently on tour until the beginning of May. They will also play selected festival dates this summer.
Mosshart did not reveal when the Kills may release their forthcoming as-yet-untitled album.
The Dead Weather tour dates:
4/26 Lake Buena Vista, FL - House of Blues
4/27 Birmingham, AL - WorkPlay Soundstage
