After playing with the likes of Miles Davis, Fela Kuti and Ornette Coleman, jazz drummer Steve Reid linked up with Kieran Hebden (aka Four Tet) for a number of projects before passing away last year. Now a new live disc believed to be the final authorized recording of Reid is primed to demonstrate the bond between the pair.
Titled Live at the South Bank, the recording chronicles a performance in the foyer of the Queen Elizabeth Hall at London's Southbank Centre on June 20, 2009, and also finds the duo joined by experimental saxophonist Mats Gustafsson.
This is the fifth recorded collaboration between Hebden and Reid, and it will be released as a two-disc CD/LP via Norway's Smalltown Superjazz label on November 14 in Europe. Check the tracklisting below.
UPDATE: The album is due out on November 15 in North America.
