Denver, Colorado natives Khemmis have long been loved locally, and are finally starting to break through and get love from the rest of the metal world, as well. Their latest release, Hunted, proves that the attention was well-earned. The album shows marked growth from their earlier stuff, featuring more polished riffs and a clearly developed sound, but still retains all of the doomy atmosphere and catchy riffs that got them recognized in the first place.

Fans of accessible doom like Sleep and High on Fire will undoubtedly love this record. That's not to say that this album can't also hit hard, though. There are moments when sludgy, slower riffs overtake the epic vocals and feel-good vibes to prove that their palettes are as varied as they are well-developed. Check this record out to hear some refreshingly groovy Denver-based doom.
