Katie Stelmanis Stung by Stingray; Austra Perform Anyway

Since releasing their debut album Feel It Break earlier this year, Katie Stelmanis-fronted goth pop trio Austra have maintained a busy touring schedule. Apparently, their work ethic isn't easily stopped either, as the group performed in L.A. last night (July 28) despite a stingray attack.

Yesterday, Stelmanis tweeted that she had an unfortunate run-in with a sea creature, saying, "I just got bit by a sting ray and it hurts so much!!! AH! Might be playing in a chair tonight. Or on some heavy drugs. For real. #stingray"

While all signs would point to a night off, Stelmanis returned to Twitter just a few hours later, saying, "Thanks LA, you were amazing. Luckily I managed to take enough Benadryls that i was able to perform standing up."

If an attack from a stingray -- the same creature that took the life of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin in 2006, -- can't stop Austra from taking the stage, we're pretty certain nothing can.
