Kathryn Calder Unveils New Solo Album

When she's not performing with the New Pornographers, singer-keyboardist and former Immaculate Machine member Kathryn Calder enjoys a beloved solo career. Following her successful 2011 effort Bright and Vivid, she's announced a new LP.

The third Kathryn Calder album is simply called Kathryn Calder. It was recorded on Vancouver Island in a studio built by her husband, renowned producer Colin Stewart (he also co-produced the album with Calder). The record also features work from Dan Mangan, Jill Barber and Hannah Georgas.

In a press release, Calder explained that the album's theme is love. "I wrote love songs, but love in a broad way. To feel loss is to feel love. To be vulnerable is to let yourself be loved," she said.

File Under: Music will release Kathryn Calder on April 14. The album's first single "Take a Little Time" can be streamed below via Stereogum.
