Kanye West's Nike Air Yeezy Prototypes Expected to Fetch $1 Million at Auction

No matter how you feel about Kanye West, there's objectively no denying that he disrupted the sneaker world when he joined forces with Adidas. Prior to that, however, his big ideas almost had a home at Nike, and now a super rare Yeezy/Nike collaboration is hitting the Sotheby's auction house.

The Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototype was worn by the rapper when he performed "Hey Mama" and "Stronger" at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in 2008.

"This pair is critical to the development of the Yeezy franchise, which has become one of the most important sneaker and lifestyle brands in history," Sotheby's head of streetwear and modern collectibles Brahm Wachter said in a statement. "Debuted on-stage at the Grammys in 2008, the sneakers set off waves in the sneaker community as people tried to identify the mysterious pair. Afterwards, we saw a series of collaborations between Kanye and Nike, and then later the birth of his line with adidas."

The shoes have been sent to auction from sneaker collector Ryan Chang. The shoes are expected to take in over $1 million USD, and you can see more pictures of them below.
