It remains unclear if Kanye West is finished tinkering with his The Life of Pablo album, but a long-completed beat tape purportedly prepped by a 20-year-old 'Ye in the '90s has miraculously surfaced online.
A tape allegedly made by West in 1997 popped up on eBay last year and made its way online over the weekend. Back then, he went by the name "KanYe to The." Uploaded as Unreleased Kanye Beat Tape [C. Sept. 97'], the eight-song collection features the kinds of soul-heavy grooves and loops West explored early in his career.
While there's been no official confirmation that the tape is actually by Yeezy, the second beat on the tape is the same one that Chicago rapper Grav had used on "City to City," a West-produced track from the rhymer's 1996 album, Down to Earth.
