Kanye West

"All of the Lights" (Portland Cello Project version)

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jan 27, 2011

Like it or not, there's no denying that Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was one of the albums that will come to define 2010. As such, we can expect an onslaught of Yeezy tributes to dominate our web viewing in the next little while. The latest is an instrumental cover of "All of the Lights," courtesy of the Portland Cello Project.

The highly epic cover of the track runs nearly seven minutes long, and sees the cello orchestra build up the track before joined by a horn section and duelling drummers. The pitch-perfect instrumentation and dynamics of the performance suggest that this is exactly how the song was meant to be played. The track is also improved because we don't have to listen to Kanye list off all the different lights or Fergie's completely unnecessary cameo.
