Chances are Steve Earle might be a little embarrassed right now. His songwriting son Justin Townes Earle just announced an album, and it's called Absent Fathers. It's due out on January 15 on Vagrant Records.
This is a companion to Justin's recently released Single Mothers, which came out last month. The two albums were originally intended to be presented as a double album, but an announcement explains, "As Justin began to sequence it, he felt each half needed to make its own statement and they took on their own identities."
That being said, we can expect this album to channel more of Earle's Americana sound.
See the tracklist below. As you can see, there are lots of rather glum titles, like "Farther from Me," "Least I Got the Blues" and "When the One You Love Loses Faith."
Although a song from the album has yet to emerge, hear a radio performance of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" at the bottom of this page. This was recorded for FBi Radio in Australia during a recent tour.
Earle also has announced that a U.S. tour is coming up, and you can see all those dates below the tracklist.
