Justin Timberlake

"Take You Down" (ft. the Neptunes)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 31, 2010

It's been over four years since Justin Timberlake dropped his mammoth sophomore hit FutureSex/LoveSounds. As pop fans have noticed, with JT's movie career slowly but surely dominating his work schedule, there's been a noticeable dearth of dance music coming from the guy since 2006. All that has changed, though, with the leak of his new single "Take You Down."

Though this could be a rough demo, the tune's minimalist mélange of thumping tom-toms, chimes and low-key synth squawks certainly fits the Neptunes' production aesthetic. Timberlake sticks to the sex-driven singing style of his last disc as he boasts of working his magic just to, uh, "do ya right." Sex-symbol status be damned, it's kind of creepy that he ends the cut off with a cry of "lick it!"

Truthfully, the dude has done better, but this is hardly the biggest boo-boo JT made this year. Anyone catch Yogi Bear?

UPDATE: Speaking to MTV News, a rep for Justin Timberlake has confirmed that this song is a fake and does not involve JT in any way, shape or form. "Various media outlets recently reported that a song called 'Take You Down' is a new track from Justin Timberlake. These reports are untrue,' the rep said in a statement. "Justin has no involvement with either the song or the artist but wants to assure his fans that when he releases new music, they will be the first to know."
