Julian Casablancas has been dropping tidbits of information about his upcoming album with his band the Voidz, and now they've finally made the news official. Tyranny will be out on September 23.
The album, which is billed to Julian Casablancas + the Voidz, is available to pre-order digitally through Cult Records for an extremely reasonable $3.87. Get it here. That's the album cover above.
In a statement, Casablancas had this to say about the album's title:
"Tyranny has come in many forms throughout history. Now, the good of business is put above anything else, as corporations have become the new ruling body. Most decisions seem to be made like ones of a medieval king: whatever makes profit while ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause (like pop music, for that matter)."
Below, check out a YouTube playlist with trio of trailers for the album. One of these is a new behind-the-scenes clip containing some snippets of music and other footage.
Casablancas and company will be hitting the road this fall. See the schedule, which is currently entirely in the U.S., right here.
