Toronto crooner Jon Vinyl is embracing his emotions on his new single "Told You."

The R&B tune finds Vinyl working through communication issues with a partner and discovering that the solution is to be open about his feelings: "What if I told you, told you, told you your touch feels so right / What if I told you, told you, told you your heart's made for mine."

The narrative is made more explicit in the Alimzhan Sabir-directed video, which opens in the wake of a disagreement between Vinyl and his partner. As the couple stand together amid a snowy winter's night, Vinyl says, "I don't want this to be about me versus you, I want this to be about us versus the problem." As evidenced by the video's sensual second half, the vulnerable approach appears to have worked.

"The ideation of 'Told You' sparked during a tough break up," said Vinyl in a press release. "My significant other and I weren't on the best terms, ultimately leading to a huge lack of communication in our relationship. I was in this hopeful headspace where I felt like I needed to let her know that she is my person and that we can get through this, which wasn't easy. Feeling quite helpless, I turned to what I know — the pen and paper — to create this song which encapsulates all the things I was having trouble expressing to her back then."

"Told You" is set to appear on Vinyl's forthcoming project, due later this year. Watch the video below.
