This spring, some never-before-heard Johnny Cash tracks are being dug out of the vaults and released as Out Among the Stars. Ahead of the March 25 release through Columbia/Legacy, fans can hear the track "She Used to Love Me a Lot."
The song is a dark love ballad with a mellow acoustic arrangement. The mood picks up somewhat as it goes along thanks to some ascendent key changes and the entrance of a rhythm section.
The album material is culled from two studio sessions: one at Nashville's Columbia Studios in 1981, and the other from 1111 Sound Studios in 1984. These were produced by Billy Sherrill.
Thanks to Rolling Stone for the heads-up.
