John Jerome & the Congregation Announce Debut Album, Prep Canadian Tour

Moncton, NB's John Jerome has fronted the noisy bands Pervert and Heimlich, but now he's leading a power-pop act called John Jerome & the Congregation. On March 12, the band will release Ask Not What I Can Do for You, But What We Can Do Together through Superbob Records.

Although Jerome's name is highlighted by the band's moniker, John Jerome & the Congregation are more than just a one-man show. Member Kyle McDonald said in a statement, "Typically, John will come up with a melody at random as a result of picking up an instrument and tinkering around with it for a few minutes. It could be anything at all: mandolin, piano, keyboard, bass, guitar. He starts with one simple lick and instantly we are collectively mired in a huge song structure of endless ideas."

The five-piece's members are drawn from a variety of local acts, and a press release describes their chemistry as relying on a "truly distinctive contrast."

Scroll down past the tracklist and the band's upcoming Canadian tour schedule to check out the aggressively harmony-filled pop single "Great Claims of Grandeur." The comparatively laid-back "She Speaks to Animals" is also below.
