Lyrical songwriter John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats is releasing a novel called Wolf in White Van on September 30 through Farrar, Strauss & Giroux, and audio of him reading the opening pages has now emerged online.
This opening chapter comes from the audiobook of Wolf in White Van, which Darnielle himself reads. It can be heard at the bottom of this page, below the dates for the author's book tour (which sadly doesn't hit Canada).
The book centres on a California man who creates a text-based role-playing game called Trace Italian after being disfigured at the age of 17. Some of the players bring their adventures to the real world.
