After Forever

Picked up by veritable legends DJ Qu, Anthony Parasole and Levon Vincent, Joey Anderson has been quickly admitted into the hard working and uncompromising pantheon of New York house music DJs, and rightly so. Over an ever-increasing body of excellent twelve-inches, Anderson's music has exposed this tough and raw appeal; it's pulsing with emotion and an infectiously danceable sonic weight.

Coming from a scene not known for its albums, After Forever is somewhat of a welcome anomaly. Throughout the 11 tracks, Anderson gives much to mull over. Long meandering squelchy synth lines fade between shimmering textures and relentless pulsing kicks. After Forever is undoubtedly intriguing, but it also has the pure quality of sound to back it up. Each track is resonant, balanced and weighty.

Though missing some of the raw unadulterated propulsion that Anderson's earlier singles and EPs had, After Forever remains true to its origins. Beguiling, intricate, patient, hard-hitting and soulful, this is dance music for those who really want something to chew on.
