Jimmy Page and White Stripe Jack White recently gathered at a press conference in Los Angeles to discuss their new documentary, It Might Get Loud, but instead ended up dissing the Guitar Hero videogame franchise. Why? Because according to the pair, it won't actually teach a person how to play guitar.
White took charge when he suggested music videogames are "a little sad." He went on to explain his dismay, saying "It's depressing to have a label come and tell you that Guitar Hero is how kids are learning about music and experiencing music."
Not alone in his opinion, Page added that Guitar Hero's peripherals won't teach people how to play the real life version of the instruments. "You think of the drum part that John Bonahm did on Led Zeppelin's first track on the first album, "Good Times Bad Times." How many drummers in the world can play that part, let alone on Christmas morning?"
While the two of them are correct in their assertion that the videogame is not a place to learn how to actually play guitar, one of them appears to have forgotten that they were talking about Guitar Hero not Rock Band.
