Jimmy Eat World To Tour Clarity in 2009

Believe it or not, next year will mark the tenth anniversary of Jimmy Eat World’s Clarity and, to celebrate, the band will be playing the album in its entirety during ten "one-time-only” shows early next year. And as Jimmy Eat World fans know, this is indeed a big deal.

At the time of Clarity’s 1999 release, the album slipped way under the commercial radar, so much so it spelled the end of Jimmy Eat World’s association with Capitol and threw the group into label limbo. The band eventually pulled out of their downward spiral and went onto platinum success with follow-up Bleed American. But for many, it’s Clarity that’s stood the test of time, with many embracing the album as a modern-day classic and a stunning testament to emo’s golden years, before it got co-opted and tainted by mascara, Hot Topic and a deep artificial sadness.

Now, starting February 23 in New York City, fans will have a chance to relive this time by way of Jimmy Eat World’s "Clarity X 10 Tour,” a live trek across America that will bring Clarity to ten U.S. cities (but sadly no Canadian ones). According to the band’s website, this event is a one-time deal and will not be repeated, so you may want to consider breaking into that piggy bank and going on a road trip if you want to catch one of these shows.
