The Jesus Lizard Reunite

Following a ten-year break-up, the sonic shitstorm known as the Jesus Lizard is reuniting. The long-departed Touch and Goers have announced they will be playing the All Tomorrow’s Parties "The Fans Strike Back” fest in Minehead, England, in May 2009, and plan to add several more live dates into the mix next year. And yes, all the original Jesus Lizard members are back onboard, meaning David Yow, Duane Denison, David Wm. Sims and Mac McNeilly will all be performing.

These shows will mark the band’s first dose of live action since calling it a day in 1999, as well as the first in 12 years to feature the original Jesus Lizard line-up. In the words of Touch and Go: "As anyone who has experienced the Jesus Lizard live can attest, they are one of the most intense and visceral musical assemblies to ever stalk a stage. This fleeting reunion offers an incredible opportunity to either be blown away all over again or to immerse yourself in the sweaty power and driving mayhem for the very first time.”

To celebrate this bit of reunion activity, Touch and Go is also set to reissue four classic Jesus Lizard albums — Head (1990), Goat (1991), Liar (1992) and Down (1994)— all of which will be given the reissue treatment on LP and CD in May. Each will come with expanded packaging and liner notes and be remastered by Bob Weston, with original session engineer Steve Albini "sitting in.”

A firm release date on those reissues, as well as an announcement telling up all the Jesus Lizard reunion shows dates, is expected shortly.
