Last year, we learned that Gossip Girl actor Penn Badgley had landed the coveted role of Jeff Buckley in an upcoming biopic. Now, a trailer for that indie flick, entitled Greetings from Tim Buckley, has hit the web following its premiere at the Toronto International Film.
As you may remember, there are currently two biopics about Jeff Buckley in the works. This is the one the centres around a tribute concert for Jeff's father Tim (hence the title), rather than the officially sanctioned film. It shows Badgley as Jeff Buckley as he prepares for the concert and gets to know an intern at the show. You'll also hear some of Badgley's musical chops, so you'll be able to judge for yourself whether he does a gob job at imitating the iconic crooner's distinctive style.
The trailer ends with the words "in post production," so we still don't have a theatrical release date. Given that it's already screened at TIFF, we'll most likely get some more solid information soon.
