J*DaVeY

"Crawl All Over"

TRACK OF THE DAY: Over the holidays, Los Angeles duo J*DaVeY decided to send out a musical gift, uploading Boudoir Synema: The Great Mistapes on Christmas Day for free download. For those familiar with the sonic adventures of Miss Jack Davey and Brook D'Leau, the five songs on Boudoir Synema continue to refine the futuristic electronic soul sound they developed on tracks like "No More" and "Mr. Mister," which made Prince an ardent fan.

The only nagging question surrounding the group is the whereabouts of their long-awaited official debut album, due to surface on Warner sometime this year. Miss Jack Davey's sultry and suggestive vocal presence and D'Leau's sinewy new wave throwback synths are all over this project, solidifying and progressing their sound, suggesting they are more than ready to deliver.

"Crawl All Over," one of the most immediate songs from Boudoir Synema, is trademark J*DaVeY and a good introduction for those unfamiliar with the group. Replete with a sensual and atmospheric extended middle section, the song draws on their eclectic influences (the aforementioned Prince is particularly noticeable here) to create a brooding mission statement fuelled by lucidly articulated desire.
