Showcasing the Sonar Kollektiv artist roster, and complied by Jazzanova, Secret Love 5 coasts between nu-soul folk and electro/acoustic indie rock. Setting hum alongside melodies and soothing vocals afloat over dreamy orchestral flourishes, plaintive piano and folky guitar, at times the compilation is so mellow it's almost muzak. While seasoned electronica heads might cringe at all the easy-listening romance, Secret Love 5 does boast a few straight-up gems. The sounds-like-Beach Boys sing-along "Love You Straight" by Pop Levi, the couldn't get any mellower nu-bossa rhythms of "This Sea, These Waves" by Brent Cash and the dreamy and ridiculously catchy "Walking Home" by Crowd Pleaser and Ly Sanders will likely get you turning the lights down low and sinking into the ultra-classy chill-out vibe, which pretty much sums up the whole Secret Love 5 experience.
