Who are you? Jay Shaw.
What are you up to? Writing and practicing for my rock & roll band Dante's Inferno (www.danteslegend.com) and some solo work as Jammico (www.jammico.com).
Hometown and current HQ: Paris, Ontario.
Current fixations: Marshmallows ... in sandwiches, hot chocolate, on a dish, though I will not eat them served with fish.
Mind altering work of art (not your own): The graffiti on the train bridge here. How the hell did some of it get up there!?! Blows my mind!
Most memorable/inspirational gig and why? Way back about a year and a half after I first picked up a guitar, a friend of mine and I organized a little party in the hall above the local arena. I decided to bring along my guitar and play a few songs. Well, I had a drum machine with one loop that I just used at different tempos for each song, no vocals, just me playing guitar along with it. Surprisingly I didn't feel embarassed at all, though I know I should of! Most memorable was completely blowing the solo to Collective Soul's "Listen" (haha!).
What should everyone shut up about? I don't know, is Pokemon dead yet?
Your greatest strength and weakness: Money - I can survive without out, but would prefer not to.
Your vital daily ritual: Alarm goes off at 6:24 am, I hit the snooze button until around 8:00 am, get up, eat, go to school for my only class, come home, eat lunch, waste my day away writing/composing/practicing/studying music, eat super, go jam with the other Dante's Inferno guys, come home and avoid going to bed.
Guilty pleasure: Hoku ... bubblegum pop music actually recorded using live musicans, including the current drummer of A Perfect Circle, who apparently never did get payed for that gig.
If I wasn't playing music I would be: Helping other bands get things together to rule the world for me.
Your most memorable day job: I'm avoiding getting a day job as long as possible ... ask me again in a few weeks.
Best/worst advice received: "Slippery When Wet" ... After I met the floor.
I would drop everything to play a benefit for: The Crime Re-enactment Actors Guild - they never get the attention they deserve.
What makes you want to take it off and get it on? ... is that an offer?
What personal trait would make you kick someone out of your band? And have you? The other guys in the band are all brothers, so either way I'll end up being the solo artist.
When I think of Canada I think: How bad American cheese really is.
Music and sex: Is there a difference? Why? No, they are EXACTLY the same thing. Seriously, when was your last orgasm caused completely by music?
Strangest brush with celebrity: Talked to Hoku in a chat soon before her debut single (that went gold in the US) was released.
What does your mom wish you were doing instead? Finding a 'real job', of course!
