Jay-Jay Johanson is almost ready to release his latest album Opium, but before it arrives next week, the Swedish songsmith has unveiled another new track from the record — and Exclaim! has got the premiere.
"Scarecrow" follows lead single "NDE" and is both airy and eerie, pairing Johanson's soft, angelic vocals with guitar lines that bounce between jangly indie pop hooks and darker, suspense-building strums. He even gets some help on the track from longtime collaborator Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins.
You can hear the results of the collaboration by giving "Scarecrow" a spin in the player below. Opium is out June 16 via Le Plan Recordings.
